Synopsys Silicon Valley Science
and Technology Championship

SAN JOSE, CA – Santa Clara County's regional science fair – The Synopsys Silicon Valley Science and Technology Championship – will be held on Tuesday, March 16 and Wednesday, March 17, 2010 in the south hall of the McEnery Convention Center in downtown San Jose.

This year over 1,000 students, grades 6 through 12, will compete for ribbons and medals by grade and project category. Companies and professional organizations will also award over 250 special prizes valued at approximately $50,000. In addition to prizes, high school winners will be invited to compete in the Intel International Science and Engineering Fair and The California State Science Fair. View flier.

Projects may be viewed by the public for free on Wednesday, March 17th from 4:30 p.m. to 6 p.m. Members of the media are invited to attend during judging on Wednesday, March 17th from 2 p.m. to 6 p.m.

Past projects have included the study of the durability of bridge designs, credit card security, bird formation for flight efficiency, and using green technology for sound proofing.

The Santa Clara Valley Science and Engineering Fair Association, incorporated in 1964, is a 501(c) (3). SCVSEFA members are dedicated to science education in Silicon Valley and have organized the region's science fair for 50 years. This is the 10th year that the Synopsys Outreach Foundation has served as the event's major sponsor.
